Without Traffic you are out of business whether your business is online or
offline. You can continue going to the store every day. You can sit looking out
the window or at the screen until you go broke or lose interest or you can learn
how to get traffic to your store.
If you want to get traffic just keep reading and we'll see if we can come up
with a way you can direct Targeted Traffic to your website.
I've sold several different products
offline and had to go out and find customers. It is about the same online.
If you want customers you have to go find them whether online or offline. The
difference is how you find them. Let me tell you a little story.
When I was selling life insurance I
was told, "This is the way to find customers".
"Imagine only red headed people will buy life insurance". Then they told me, "If
you have to, get yourself a pair of rose colored glasses and everyone you meet
will be red headed". I know this may sound foolish but I found that with rose
colored glasses only 1 out of a 100 red headed people I talked to was interested
in insurance. What that little experience taught me was I needed to talk to a
lot of people to make a sale. It also taught me never disqualify anyone.
It works the same online. You'll have to tell your story to a lot of people to
make a sale. You can cut the odds down some if you are talking to a person that
wants the product you are selling. We will get to that in a little while.
If you are selling Volkswagens and you disqualify someone because they are
driving a Cadillac, you just might miss a sale. The same if you are selling
little dogs and pass up someone that owns a cat. What I'm trying to say is, if
you run around all day looking for that perfect customer you probably won't make
a sale that day.
"You will want to tell your story as many times a day as you can".
I have always made more money by telling my story 10 times a day than when I
told it 2 times a day. I also found the more times I told my story, the better
I'd get. The better I'd get, the more I sell.
"Now lets talk about Targeted Traffic"
Targeted traffic is people looking for
information or products, and you have the information or product they are
looking for.
You will have the information in a book form or report that you can deliver to
the prospect. You'll need enough of the information on your site or sales page
to convince your prospect you have what he/she is looking for and then you help
them decide to order your book or report.
There are different ways you get the target traffic to to your site.
1. Search engines.
You will need your site optimized so the
search engines will spider your site and list it on their pages. Your site must
be good enough to register in the top ten for the Keywords the prospect is
looking for.

Don't forget to come back here for other ways to get traffic to
your site.
2. Pay Per Clicks.
You will bid for position with PPC. The
more you bid the closer to the top of the Search engines pages your ads will
appear. If you don't know what you are doing with PPC, you can spend more than
you make. PPC is or can be a bit tricky so make sure you know what you're doing
before you try PPC. I'm not trying to scare you away from PPC, just warning you
to be careful.
3. E-mail ads.
You find someone with a mailing list of
people that has shown interest in the type of products you are selling. You buy
space in their ezine to place an ad. This will require some work or
investigation on your part. It would be a waste of money to send an ad for Dog
food to cat owners, or information on different kinds of insect to anyone other
than someone interested in insect. The ezine publishers are selling space. They
don't really care what you advertise. I must say, there are some publishers that
will not accept your ad if it doesn't go with their clientele.
The best way to check is to subscribe to their ezine before you place an ad.
Some publishers require you to be a subscriber before they will run your ad.
This is a way for them to have a bigger mailing list they can use when
advertising for people to place ads in their ezine. If they have 50,000
advertisers they can boast of their big mailing list.
4. Joint ventures.
This is one of the best ways to get your
advertising out faster than the other ways. Joint ventures was at one time,
getting someone to send your advertising to their mailing list and you do the
same for them. Now JV is getting someone to advertise your product to their list
for a percentage of the sales made to their list. This almost requires having an
affiliate program setup to track the sales of your JV's so you can pay them for
their sales.
If you have your product setup so you can collect the addresses and names of the
people that buys your product, you can build a good mailing list with JVs also.
To get someone to JV with you,
you will need a product that sells for at least $50.00, 0therwise your JV
partners wouldn't make enough to pay for their work. If you have your product
setup as mentioned above you can afford to pay a bigger percentage than you
would normally pay an affiliate because you are building a mailing list with
their sales.
5. Articles.
You can write articles with information
about your niche products and submit your articles to article directories and
let them be used in e-mail, on websites or blogs. your article will have your
signature block at the bottom of the article with your URL. The more publishers
that publish your articles the more traffic you will get to your URL.
Writing articles is the cheapest way to advertise but it will take longer before
you start making sales. If you can't write articles you can purchase private
label articles or you can get a ghostwriters to write articles for you. You will
need to tell them what to write about and maybe what you want to say.
This will probably make the people selling Private Label Articles mad, but if
you buy 1000's of articles in a package there might be 4 or 5 you can use and
you will have to rewrite them. I don't know about you but I would rather write
my own articles than read through 1000's of letters trying to find one I
can use.
If you can write a series of articles on a subject, you can put them in an
autoresponder and advertise your responder and build a mailing list. You can
join mailing list builders. You can mail to them usually once a week. In your
mail you will want to advertise your responder or some other way you have to
collect their address.
I'm writing this from memory and my memory's not as good as it once was, so I
might have left out some other ways to find people for your business but if you
work a couple of these it will be better than doing nothing so go and build your
list.
